Wenger Hails Fabregas

Manager Arsène Wenger hailed the "complete performance" of Cesc Fàbregas as Arsenal FC recovered from Saturday's surprise domestic defeat to register three UEFA Champions League Group G points with an emphatic defeat of FC Porto.

"We scored four and could have maybe got a few more but it was most important to win the game quickly, in a convincing way, and that's what we did. " said Wenger.

Fabregas: We must Kill Games

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has called for his team not to waste as many chances as they did in Kiev when they meet Porto in their next Champions League clash on Tuesday.

The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw against Dynamo Kiev in their opening Champions League game, but created far more chances than their hosts and really should have come away with all three points.

In the end they had to settle for the draw after captain William Gallas equalised for the misfiring Gunners in stoppage time.

Cesc Unhappy with Sub

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas was left angry and frustrated despite helping Spain to a 1-0 win over Bosnia in their first World Cup Qualifying match.

He supplied the crucial pass to team-mate David Villa which led to the winning goal, and while he was celebrating with the rest of the team, coach Vicente Del Bosque took him off the pitch.

He understands that he may not yet have the level of fitness of his team-mates after a muscle injury interrupted his pre-season, but he was still annoyed that he was taken off for tactical reasons.

Fabregas Says No to City

Cesc Fabregas has been linked to Manchester City amidst the takeover and transfer window gossip.

City bought Brazilian international Robinho from Real Madrid for a club-record £32.4m and the club have subsequently been linked with a whole host of other top internationals, including Ruud van Nistelrooy, Fernando Torres, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gianluigi Buffon.

However, midfield player Fabregas, 21, has vowed to remain in north London for the foreseeable future at least and reject any overtures that may happen to come his way from the City of Manchester stadium

Fabregas Wanted by City

Manchester City's new billionaire owners are planning a world-record £135m bid for Cristiano Ronaldo in the January transfer window before turning their sights to, among others, Fernando Torres of Liverpool and Cesc Fábregas of Arsenal.

"Ronaldo has said he wants to play for the biggest club in the world, so we will see in January if he is serious," said Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim, of the Abu Dhabi United Group.

Fabregas in Spain Squad

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque recalled Cesc Fabregas and left out Bojan Krkic when he named his squad on Friday for the European Champions' opening 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Armenia.

Arsenal midfielder Fabregas was injured for Del Bosque's first game at the helm since replacing Luis Aragones, when Spain beat Denmark 3-0 in a friendly in Copenhagen last week.

The return of Fabregas saw Real Madrid's Ruben de la Red drop out of the reckoning but perhaps the most significant absence from the list was that of Barcelona's Bojan Krkic.

Cesc Invites Alonso to Arsenal

Liverpool's Xabi Alonso is on the wish list Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas to join him at The Emirates.

The Gunners have been linked with Alonso. The 21-year-old said: "I'd love it!

"What can I say? He is my friend and apart from that he is a great professional, a great passer of the ball, he works hard defensively, he's scoring goals now, he's experienced and he is only 26.

"For me he would be perfect."

Fabregas up for Euro Award

Cesc Fabregas has been nominated for UEFA's European Player of the Year Award.

Last year's Champions League top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, Liverpool's Fernando Torres and Chelsea's Frank Lampard will all be leading contenders for the award. Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Carles Puyol are also in contention.

There are also awards for goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward of the year.

Arsenal are missing nine first teamers for tonight's Champions League qualifier against Standard Liege tonight.
Cesc Fabregas will miss the first two weeks of the season with a hamstring injury, with Aaron Ramsey set to step into his shoes tonight.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said: "The Champions League qualifiers are our biggest games of the season - but we have left a big squad at home and I am not left with many options.

"Basically, it is a choice of a young player or an even younger one.
