Cesc Fabregas says that the Spain national team are very confident

Despite confidence having hit rock bottom, Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas says that the Spain national team are very confident about bringing the European Championship trophy back home for a third consecutive time.

Spain have won the Euros for the last two times and they were regarded as a major dominant force in world football before the World Cup 2014. The World Cup in Brazil, though, destroyed the confidence of the Spanish national team. It was not the same team that had dominated the three major tournaments that preceded the World Cup 2014.

The influx of new players like Diego Costa did not work as planned. It has left the national team with severe low confidence for the first time in almost a decade. It appears that the national team are going through the same syndrome that they suffered for several decades before ending the trophy drought with the Euro 2008. Fabregas says that there is a good feeling within the camp and he is confident of achieving success. Even though the national team suffered a disappointing loss against Georgia only a few days ago, Fabregas says that the team has not played a lot of significance on the result as it was nearly a game to improve the fitness just ahead of the tournament.

“There's a good feeling in the camp. I see everyone with a lot of hunger and will to do something big. Between all of us, we need to take a step forward and bring the cup where it belongs for a third straight time.I don't see a clear favourite but I don't give importance to that.It doesn't matter if we are favourites. We have to face the games with the maximum seriousness because everyone wants to beat Spain. We have to give our best,” said Fabregas.
