ARTETA NOT KEEN ON COMPARISONS

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has rejected any suggestions that he is very much similar to Cesc Fabregas for Arsenal. Both midfielders have the Spanish connection, but Mikel Arteta has suggested that it would be daft to compare him with Cesc Fabregas.

Fabregas moved to Barcelona in the summer in a £ 35 million deal, which left a huge void in the Arsenal midfield. Arsene Wenger immediately went out and secured the signing of Mikel Arteta from Everton for around £ 10 million. Even though he initially struggled to adapt at Arsenal, he has become one of the important players over the last few weeks.

This has led to suggestions comparing him with Cesc Fabregas, who was the main architect of the chances that Arsenal created in a match. So far, the 30-year-old Mikel Arteta has made 34 appearances for Arsenal this season.

He scored a brilliant goal for Arsenal in their last match against Aston Villa, which ended in a 3-0 win for the North London club. He also scored a late goal to make the score look more than convincing. Before moving to Arsenal in the summer, Mikel Arteta spent 6 1/2 years at Goodison Park with Everton. He made 299 appearances for Everton before moving to Arsenal in the summer.

“Cesc wasn’t the same player in his first season as in his last, so how can anyone expect me to be the Cesc Fabregas of last season in my first? It’s not fair,” Mikel Arteta said after the Aston Villa match. Robin van Persie may have taken all the plaudits for a brilliant season, but Mikel Arteta has been the unsung hero for Arsenal this season. His presence in the side has been able to allow them to cope up with the loss of both Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.
