Johnson urges Chelsea to sign Ben Chilwell

Chelsea is urged to continue their pursuit on the left-backBen Chilwell by the former defender Glen Johnson. Chilwell is currently playing for Leicester City and has been contributing well for the team. Leicester is currently standing on the third position of the Premier League table and is ahead of many big clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United. Blues have been keen on signing the player and for a talent like him, Leicester is most likely to demand £80 million.

As per the reports of Goal, Chilwell is the next interest of Lampard. Chelsea has already had discussions with their targets. They have agreed to the £54 million clause of RB Leipzig in order to sign Timo Werner. They have also signed Ajax striker Hakim Ziyech who will be soon joining the club as Dutch league was cancelled.

Johnson had praised Chilwell a lot in his talk with TalkSport and he also said that Chilwell can fit well into the team of Chelsea. One doesn’t hear anything about him that is not football related and this is what Johnson like him about most. He feels that Chilwell and Lampard will get along well. He also thinks that he will be a good replacement for Ashley Cole.

“I know Ashley Cole was irreplaceable, but in terms of a natural, solid left-back, they haven’t had one for a while and I think he’ll do very well,” said Johnson.
Marcos Alonso is the current player of Chelsea who is playing in the position of left-back. Johnson is of the belief that Chilwell will be better for the position than Alonso. The latter one is a good footballer but the former one is a natural defender. The price is heavy but if Chelsea wants a good player then they should be looking forward to signing Leicester City left-back.

With the Premier League to resume on June 17, they are on the fourth position of the points table. Their first match is against Aston Villa on June 21 at Villa Park.
