Schwarzer Confident Fabregas Can Fill Lampard Void

The Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has said that the club’s new signing Cesc Fabregas is perfectly capable of replacing a great player like Frank Lampard who has been released by the Blues this summer.

Fabregas has been bought by Chelsea from Barcelona at a transfer fee of 30 million Pounds. The fans are expecting him not to let the club miss the services of Lampard and Schwarzer has backed the Spaniard to live up to the expectations.

Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea being held up by Arsenal

Arsenal’s indecision regarding a return to the Emirates Stadium for Cesc Fabregas is holding up his move to Chelsea, it has been revealed.

The former Arsenal man is expected to leave the Catalan giants after new manager Luis Enrique told the player he did not figure in his vision for the club and is expected to return to the Premier League for a fee of £ 27 million.

The deal was expected to be announced before the beginning of the World Cup after Barcelona signed Ivan Rakitic as a replacement for the outgoing Spanish international.

Fabregas Draws Attention From Both Manchester Clubs

Cesc Fabregas is reportedly subjected to transfer interest from both Manchester United and Manchester City in the summer. The midfielder has been criticised by his own fans after a string of poor performances. However, he has been one of the best players for Barcelona in terms of statistics. The former Arsenal man, though, has taken a lot of stick for being part of the team that has failed to live up to the expectations in several areas.

FABREGAS BELIEVES

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has stated that he still believes that the club can qualify for the Champions League semi-finals despite only managing a 1-1 draw from the first leg against Atletico Madrid.

This result has put the Madrid team as the favourites to qualify since the return leg will be at home and they also have the away goal. Matches between the two teams this season have been very close, as Diego Simeone has managed to make his team even better and take them to new heights.

FABREGAS TAKES DIG

Cesc Fabregas has taken a dig at both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich by saying that both teams do not impress him with their achievements so far this campaign. Real Madrid recently managed a 6-1 win over Schalke in the Champions League last 16 stage.

It was a comfortable night for the club, who are one of the favourites to win the competition. However, Cesc Fabregas has said that it is simply not in the quality of the Champions League to witness such results. He said that Schalke simply fell away without any fight.

Interest Flattered Cesc Fabregas

Last football summer season, Cesc Fabregas was actually flattered by the interest that was shown by Manchester United. The manager of the famous Manchester United club- David Moyes tried his level best to sign the Barcelona midfielder last summer. However, Cesc Fabregas decided to stick to FC Barcelona.

While talking to Football Focus, Fabregas admitted that he was very happy with the interest that was shown by Manchester United. He said that it was flattering to see that a popular club such as Manchester United praised him and wanted him to join the club.

NOT A TITLE MATCH

Cesc Fabregas doesn’t think that the outcome of the upcoming La Liga match between his team Barcelona and Atletico Madrid is going to be very important in terms of title race, but, he did say that the team winning the match would surely get the momentum in its favour.

Barcelona and Atletico are at the first and the second position respectively in the La Liga points table at the moment. They are being separated only by goal difference as both have the same no. of points in the bag and that shows how close the competition is between these two sides.

BARCA VS CITY

Barcelona will be facing Manchester City in the last 16 of the Champions league in a match that could be the standout fixture in this round. Barcelona are one of the best teams in Europe even though they are going through an identity crisis at the moment under the new manager Gerard Martino.

They have done extremely well in the league up until now, but without playing the same style of football that has become synonymous with the club over the last five years. City, on the other hand, have managed to shake off the early-season poor form to dominate the league in the last few weeks.

FABREGAS DISMISSES RUMOURS

Cesc Fabregas has dismissed rumours that he may be set for return to Premier league football by saying that he would like to retire at Barcelona. Fabregas came through the ranks at Barcelona before joining Arsenal as a teenager for £ 2 million.

He went on to have eight successful years at the Premier league outfit during which time he also became one of the world's best midfielders. Barcelona recently took him back to the club in order to be a potential replacement for Xavi, who is entering into the twilight of his career.

CESC BACKS PEPE

Cesc Fabregas has said that it would be great if Barcelona signs the Liverpool goalie Pepe Reina next summer.

Victor Valdes who has been the first choice keeper of Barcelona since quite a while is believed to make a move abroad at the end of this season. That would force Blaugrana to look for a quality goal keeper and Fabregas thinks that Reina will be a good choice.

Reina is currently playing for Napoli on loan, but, he is not expected to sign a permanent deal with the Italian club next summer.
